day 08 - a song that you know all the words to

Well, I know a lot of songs...a lot of them. I will never forget driving with Paul, Drew, Steve, and Shawn to Magic Mountain a few years ago during December (yes, it was freeeeezing) and we listened to Christmas music the whole time. Paul turned to me and said, how to you know every single word to every single Christmas song??? It just sticks.

day 07 - a song that reminds you of a certain event

This song reminds me of when I was living in Spain. I went into El Corte Ingles and I heard it over the speakers. I went up to an employee and asked, "Who is this? I want this album. Take me to it."

day 06 - a song that reminds you of somewhere

I'm so behind - so I'm going to make a couple posts tonight.

This song reminds me of NYC - Harlem down in the subways. I'd listen to this song as much as possible - this is when I really fell in love with Eminem.

Day 5 - A Song That Reminds You of Someone

Well, there are just so many! And I can't post all of the videos - too much space. So I am following Michelle's format and putting up one or two followed by a list (suddenly I am writing this like a work email).

Bart O - this is all you! This was the same time that I had just bought my first mac and I would wake up before the house, and quickly write a good morning song. So when Bart would walk out of his room I'd play the good morning song. lol. Oh those "i just graduated from college and I'm going to be fat" days.

Golden - oh those NYC days, you got me into this album when we had rented a car and we were driving in New Jersey. I can't remember where we were going (probably Boston) and from there, I would listen to this whole album on my commute on the subway and bus while I was at Martha Stewart. It is still so vivid to me.

And here's the rest...

my oldest sister - anything off of the Police Syncronicity album

2nd oldest sister - a lot of church music

my middle sister - ELO: Mr Blue Sky

the youngest sister - anything by 10000 Maniacs or Depeche Mode

Julie H - Alanis Morissette: Forgiven (you and Golden know why. hahahaha)

Lisa & Kate - NIN: Head Like a Hole (oh the days of us driving around in high school in the rain, and us pulling into a church parking lot and turning this song up and dancing. So fun!)

Kirsten - anything from Les Miserables. This was my first broadway show that I ever saw (granted it was a tour), but you introduced me to this way back in jr. high. We stood outside in the freezing Utah weather for 14 miserable hours to buy tickets. lol.

Keith W - really, there are three here that were all around the same time. Anything by Girl Talk (trying to get out of the crowd so we could breathe!), anything by Gnarls Barkley (sitting at the back of the field at Lolla, exhausted, and watching a guy - who was clearly stoned - standing there casually looking for friends. But he was only looking with his head. He kept moving forward, and away, and back to foward. He did this for about 50 minutes. It was hysterical. I wish I had it on film.

Mariana - Girl Talk. All of his stuff. I mean, we both held his hand when he was spinning at the Avalon - post "hobo" comment.

Michelle - various songs from the broadway version of American Idiot, a monumental trip that I don't think either of us will ever forget.

SB - Robyn: Hang With Me

And that is what I can think of right now. I know I will other thoughts later today, and I, no doubt, post them!

Day 4 - A Song That Makes You Sad

So, this song just tugs at the feelings (and tugs and tugs - that is if you're listening). And I have to give a shout out to my friends who helped me actually make a spec video to this song in St. George (Paul, Carly, and Erin!) I'll have to post that video sometime...

Day 2 - Your Least Favorite Song

Oh I hate this song. So bad. I want to stab my ears.

and since that is also Michelle's song, here's another one that makes me want to die too - DIE...this band just produces an awful sound.

American Gangster, Control, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead...

American Gangster was good. It is a classic movie - it was 3 hours long, but it really never ever felt like it. Stylistically it is amazing. It is an amazing executed film. Both Denzel and Russell do an amazing job...and it will most likely get nominated for a bunch of Oscars. But I was sitting there thinking - is this film too mass for me? I think it is.

Control. I was into this film the entire time. The first hour was slow...but I could have been me and my impatience. But I loved it. Everything about it was beautiful.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. BRILLIANT. There is nothing wrong with this film - and if there was you really didn't care because the storytelling is so amazing. This will be nominated a ton - at least it better. And it should win best supporting actor and best director. Wow, this film was powerful.
